Belgrade City Council unanimously approved two board appointments and advanced two resolutions aimed at generating revenue and clarifying facility rules. Samantha Adams was appointed to the Police Commission after a competitive process with three applicants. Adams, a 25-year Belgrade resident with five children in local schools, told the council she is committed to supporting officers while promoting accountability and community trust. Harold Carl was appointed to the Board of Adjustments. A council member thanked all applicants for stepping forward to serve the community.
The council also passed Resolution 2026-2, formally creating Lighting District 24-46 for Prescott Ranch Phase 2. City staff discovered that the city has 47 lighting districts, but 16 are incomplete or missing documentation. This district is already operational with the city paying electric bills, but no revenue is being collected from residents. Formalizing the district will allow the city to begin collecting fees. A public hearing is scheduled for April 7th.
In a third unanimous vote, the council approved Resolution 2026-3, establishing rental rates for the community room and library facilities. The north or south half rents for $400 for four hours with hourly rates thereafter, plus a $250 refundable security deposit. Kitchen rental fees are also available, and both room halves can be rented simultaneously to different groups. City Manager Cardwell announced that several departments have moved into the new city building this weekend, and the March 16th council meeting will likely be canceled due to spring break and staff unavailability.
